    • Can PSM timers be dynamically set?

“T3324” is the timer for the PSM Activity Timer (how long the Idle Mode lasts before PSM mode is started). It depends of the device request, i.e. if the device requests 10s than MME accepts since the activation of dynamic PSM.

“T3412” is the timer for the Long Periodic TAU (how long the UE can stay ATTACHed before the packet core releases the session. This value is currently set to 310 hours default. The UE may request a value, but currently this is overwritten by the network default. This behavior will change in the future.

Both as dynamic PSM AT and dynamic LP-TAU will allow to retain the values proposed by UE. Most of the operators within DT’s footprint support dynamic PSM and LP-TAU, but may differ in min./max. values.

    • Are LoRa and Sigfox real competitors for NB-IoT?

Deutsche Telekom is confident that NB-IoT is a very high-quality product offering based on an 3GPP industry standard. While there will also be suitable usage scenarios for other LPWA technologies, we think that many IoT applications can be better implemented with NB-IoT (due to its superior performance) than with Sigfox or LoRa.

Take part in our survey about localization services!

      @stefan-de-lange
Dear Stefan, Thank you for you feedback. This is true, that all depends on the use case. Maybe you would like to share your ideas with us, about which use cases you’ve been thinking of? Nevertheless we just would like to undestand how important is the localization for our customers to improve our services.

      Best Regards,
      Olga

    • Take part in our survey about localization services!

Take part in our survey about localization services!

      Dear IoT Community,

With Internet of Things billions of physical devices around the world are connected, collecting and sharing data. Customers want the data and information about these devices for different reasons, like cost reduction for example. One very relevant information is often the location of a device or an asset.

Deutsche Telekom is currently evaluating whether it makes sense to develop or introduce a localization service that is not as accurate as GPS but can be integrated very inexpensively (e.g. Enhanced Cell ID).

We are happy if you can support us by answering few questions to this topic. The survey takes only 5 minutes of your time. Simply follow the link: Survey

Thank you very much in advance for your support! If you have questions don’t hesitate to ask in our IoT Forum.

      Best Regards,
      Your IoT Community Team

    • On which frequency bands do LoRa and Sigfox operate?

Both LPWA technologies use regionally different unlicensed frequency bands, e.g. ISM Band (868-870 MHz) in Europe and (902-928 MHz) in the Americas.

    • How good is the coverage of LoRa and Sigfox networks in Germany?

In general, other networks such as LoRa and Sigfox are also still in their build-up. NB-IoT has the advantage of being able to use existing LTE base stations, which will allow for sufficiently dense network with good indoor penetration, especially in urban regions.
