How can I validate my IoT use case using a virtual twin simulation?
Dear IoT Friends,
are you interested in tools and services to validate your end-to-end solution setup?
Remember, what computer-aided engineering was for automotive 15 years ago? We wouldn’t have cars driving autonomously if we hadn’t done CAE. We can offer you our IoT Solution Optimizer tool as a simulator for your project. You can get a lot of insights in the expected performance of your solution already BEFORE building the first prototypes!
iotcreators.iotsolutionoptimizer.com/ServicesIoT Solution Optimizer is about:
-
Leveraging virtual twin technology to accelerate IoT product design for performance
-
Comparing implementation choices in seconds and assessing optimization recommendations
-
Take hardware components off the shelf --> model your specific use case --> see battery lifetime
Please share your feedback with us:
-
if you like thie idea of a virtual twin or not
-
what is your use case
-
which problem do you want to solve
Free giveaway: We offer you two-week-test licenses for this tool and we will hand these out to the first 20 users who will share their thoughts in the comment section
Thanks,
Uta -

Cheat sheets for AT commands available now!
If all the AT commands are way too hard to remember for you and if you struggle with finding quickly what you need to make your device talk, then we’ve got something for you: good old cheat sheets.
Whatever the reason is that you read this forum post:- if you go mad about the fact that all modules - even from one vendor - use a different AT command set
- if Google doesn’t help you as fast as you wish
- if you want to outperform your fellow team members
- if you loved secret cheating in school anyway and want to revive the feeling of (not) being cought
- or if you simply want to save time
make use of this section of our doclib: AT command cheat sheets and please let us know whether it is helpful for you or not .

RE: NBIoT Roaming
The GSMA offers a “Mobile IoT Deployment Map”. You can click on a country and see various information per technology type e.g. which operator deployed that network type and even URL’s of the operators’ maps for that country (if the MNO made it available). GSMA is improving and enhancing it continuously.

RE: SIM7020E has trouble entering PSM
Hi MeneerJacco,
I don’t know the exact answer for you, I apologise. But didn’t want to let you waiting either. May I provide you with a link for further technical deep-dive on the matter: please look at our technology cards hereYou will find a lot of knowledge around power saving features, just open the required section
In case that didn’t help you please reach out again and I’m gonna find someone on our end on Monday.
Have a nice weekend,

RE: IoT Creators Bug Tracker 🐞
@magnatron I created the page in our doclib. Thanks for the hint

RE: SARA-N310 roaming
@Inter-Act if you work on automatic mode, the modem would scan through the whole PLMN until it finds a network. This can take 10 mins or more even on NB-IoT. And Telekom DE is in the PLMN. What is the error code?

RE: NB-IoT in The Netherlands and Belgium
Hi Cees, the APN will always be the same irrespective of th country your devices are in when sending data. The band is always depending on the MNO, that provides the (strongest) signal in the area where your device is located. For roaming cases this needs to be flexible rather than hardcoded, as well as the operator ID.

RE: Software Release Log
Instead of Release Notes - IoT Creators - 27.01.2022
Evolution
Here at IoT Creators we work in an agile way. We’ve got amazing developers and tech support on board and we like taking quick decisions after a creative discussion in our team.As you know, the agile way of working also requires time for retrospective and time to plan improvements. It’s like when you renovate your flat now and then, get a new couch and coffee table, or even a new flat screen …
Our DEV team decided to start the new year with throwing out some old carpets and repainting the walls!
This will help us to be faster and more flexible with our service in 2022.Now you know, why there’s no new release at the moment.
Meanwhile you can check out Afzals “2021 -> 2022” video on LinkedIN and/or reach out and let us know what adventures you plan for 2022 -
RE: SARA-N310 roaming
@Jeroen-van-Bussel of course you can work on automatic mode, the modem would scan through the whole PLMN list until it finds a network. This can take a while and I agree, it’s the only thing that makes sense for devices in non-static use cases.

RE: LTE-M Connection Problem with BG96
Hi Kurosh,
08:57:32.505 -> at+cgdcont=1,“IP”,“internet.nbiot.telekom.de”
this APN is for NB-IoT only.
For LTE-M you can use the APN internet.m2mportal.de.I suspect that between 08:57:57.281 and 08:58:00.579 you get a +CEREG: 0,3 (rejected from network)?

Solution Guidelines for successful IoT deployments
Do you know that you can save a lot of time in your IoT development and deployment activities by following our IoT solution guidelines?
Deutsche Telekom has a team dedicated to continuously improving the network, upgrading it with new features and testing and certifying of modules of all manufacturers to make sure they work well with our networks. If you additionally respect our simple rules like:
-
avoid synchronous device behavior - add randomization to your cloud app and firmware
-
only send wake-up messages to devices that you know are attached to the network (make sure you know the device status)
-
and some more
you’ll end up with an amazing IoT application and successful business case. We’re here to help you, feel free to add your question as a comment here or contact me via uta@iotcreators.com.

RE: IoT Creators The Thing Migration 11/05/2021 [Status Update]
I’ve been in the conference call with all technicians the whole day where we first did the migration successfully and then noticed that the adapters in the platform didn’t cope with the number of messages that came in. The best thing was that every member of several teams in different countries was online the whole time and reachable and it was real teamwork and a very good collaboration between infrastructure experts, software experts, network and cloud experts, testers and project management from our side. I agree to what Afzal said - the number of device messages is very much balanced throughout the whole day even if for a specific project that would be different.
The picture shows traffic pattern from 5.-8.5.2021
Apologies also from my side and I’m here as well to answer all your questions

RE: Limited Data Rate after to many messages on aday?
Hi Timo, as @afzal_m mentioned nothing will happen on radio network layer. While using a 1NCE SIM simply the prepaid data volume will be consumed and you might need to top up soon - depending on message size of course.
Please review §7.8 in the 1NCE T&C for proper use of their SIM and possible impact/consequences.
